Avoiding the Rain

A small black tomcat slinked into the leaders den then shook out his wet fur.As Loststar looked back at the entrance he noticed the rain was getting harder.In the dim light he found his way to his nest and layed down beginning to groom his shoet fur.In mintues it was dry and shining.Half crouching he spang at a moving in the corner of his den.Pulling out a field rat by its tail he let out a rare laugh"hiding from the rin are we?"he asked the rat his voice muffled by the rats tail.Giving him a confused look the rat began to struggle.Running he bolted out into the rain still holding the rat by its tail.He ran over to a large thistle palnt then put the rat in making sure it was sheltered before the leader ran back to his nest.Feeling happy and tired he dozed off.

_{The small ginger-and-white tom's body slunk through the TorrentClan camp. This tom, named Shatterpaw, was very unfortunate. This rain is good for the land, he thought, but not for us cats! I hate getting my paws wet! White paws were now muddy from walking. The nearest den was the TorrentClan leader, Loststar's, own den. Bright azure occuli studied as Loststar carried out a rat by it's tail. "I would've tore out it's throat for fresh kill! A real warrior would've done that," Shatterpaw mewed to himself. Though, he had no rights to question his leader's doings. The apprentice's ginger-and-white tail flicked, and the tom looked as if he were fiddling with a twig as Loststar walked back to his den. Shatterpaw briefly nodded politely, then walked to the fresh kill pile. Picking up a thrush, he loped back to the apprentice's den. Fangs sunk into the bird's flesh. Ears flicked as he gulped down the prey in hearty bites. I want to be the best Clan cat to ever live. I'll be Loststar's deputy for sure. I'll make him choose me, but I have to become a warrior first.}

Velvetfur, the clan adviser, stood out in the cool rain....letting it drip down her tortise shell fur. She blinked her eyes remebewring the acient memories of 51 moons ago when she was a first kit and experiencing her first rain. The "pitter patter" calmed her as she slowlig whipped her tail from side to side, letting it sway in the gentle breeze. Her fur lay flat and her eye were expressionless.
